A lot of my friends are into golf. And honestly, it’s hard not to be, especially when Denver offers those beautiful mountain views, an outdoor lifestyle, and some seriously great golf courses.
With the weather we get, it’s no wonder the city’s a golfer’s dream.
So, if you’re here to try a new hobby or maybe even take golf to the next level, I’ve got you covered. Don’t worry—these top golf courses in Denver are based on my research.
1. Fossil Trace Golf Club

Address: 3050 Illinois St, Golden

Hours: Sunday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Friday to Saturday: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Pricing: $$
If you’re looking for an 18-hole golf course in Denver while also being a huge dinosaur fan, golfing at the Fossil Trace Golf Club might be the best way to spend the weekend.
I adored how the golf course includes a fun and challenging layout, and trace fossils found when the land was excavated. This can be seen between holes 11-15—an exciting route to play and finish the game.
Besides that, the course also includes remnants of massive clay mining equipment, which just adds to the overall historic vibe of the golf course.
The rates are pretty good, but remember that weekday prices can vary a lot. For example, playing 18 holes on a weekday is $140, while it’s $175 on the weekend. But if you’re getting a premium experience, then it’s worth it.
Pro Tip:
You can download their Fossil Trace App here to book your tee time, keep score, and access a functional GPS to navigate the golf course.

Located conveniently 9 minutes away from the airport or 25 minutes from Downtown Denver, the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club can be your next golf spot.
What I especially like about this club is the availability of a TrackMan Range on their course. They’re the only public range in Colorado to have such technology. With this, you’re working with estimates on your performance and getting exact data.
Moreover, I also appreciate a warm bucket of golf balls included in the greens fee, which makes the play all the more fun and stress-free.
If you want to bring some kids along, then that’s perfectly fine too. You can enjoy a cheaper junior rate between Monday and Thursday.
Don’t forget to drop by the club’s The Smokehouse restaurant. They offer weekly specials to pair with a good golf game.
Pro Tip:
Reservations can be made as early as 90 days. So, if you’re planning to try Green Valley Ranch Golf Club’s courses, book a reservation now!

Priding itself as the only public course in the area that got the privilege of being designed by famous golf course architect Donald Ross, playing the 18-hole Wellshire Golf Course is a memorable experience.
You can also opt to play mini golf in this place. Enjoy their creatively designed Aqua Mini Golf or Kennedy Putt Putt mini golf courses for $12 on weekdays or $16 on weekends.
And if you ever missed bringing your clubs, it won’t be a problem since they also offer club set rentals for men and women, which are not so bad to use.
I like that you can purchase their gift cards for as low as $25. I mean, I can easily send that to a friend as a thoughtful birthday gift.
Pro Tip:
If you want to learn how to play golf, Wellshire Golf Course offers lessons that can be $10 less than the standard solo rate if you enroll with two to four friends. Tag them along!
4. City Park Golf Course

There are no strict dress code policies when you play golf at the City Park Golf Course, so if you want a casual play without missing out on the fun, this would be a good spot for you.
Easily located right at the city’s heart, this 18-hole golf course is designed with a stormwater detention area to reduce flooding problems in and around the golf course.
On the other hand, I like that they have a full-size driving range, which is the perfect spot if you want a more chill and controlled space to practice your swings.
If you’re coming as a beginner, you can join the group lessons. Sign up for their Come Learn 1.0 course for a solid foundation in golfing basics. Once you’re ready, step up your game with Come Learn 2.0, then proceed to 9-hole courses for $21.
Pro Tip:
For around $20, you can get a loyalty card to make booking your tee time schedule easier. The golf course’s schedule can get packed, but having a loyalty card can help you get a slot, especially if you have plans to play frequently.

Cherry Creek Country Club’s golf course has thrilled players with its challenging layout, no surprise, given that the legendary Jack Nicklaus designed it.
Apart from its design, another commendable quality that it embodies is its management and course maintenance. It’s nice that they’re not neglectful and ensure the golf course is checked and cared for daily.
It’s also great that beginners can easily find golf clubs, balls, apparel, and more at the Cherry Creek Country Club golf shop. They even offer gift certificates, though they’re available only during special occasions.
Part of the amenities it offers is the fitness center. They brag about the center’s variety of equipment, ideal for any type of workout. If you’re a member, you can gain full access to free weights, treadmills, and elliptical machines.

A real highlight of The Club at Pradera is its fantastic facilities and friendly customer service, which really help create a fantastic sense of community among members.
I especially love their Tuesday Senior League, where members over 55 can get together and play 18 holes. They also have similar programs for men, women, and couples, so there’s something for everyone.
And speaking of activities for all, check their website for the signature events that happen at the club. There’s the Men’s Founder’s Cup, Geezer Cup, and Women’s Solheim Cup, among others.
The clubhouse is great too, with the Mt. Elbert restaurant where you can indulge after a fun game. There are also locker rooms and lounges for both men and women, which many members enjoy.
Pro Tip:
Before hitting the course, take The Club at Pradera’s Course Tour to get familiar with the layout and the elevation changes. It’ll help you plan your strategy.
